Washing your skin
One of the many myths associated with skin conditions, especially acne, is that they are caused by dirty skin. As a result of this myth many people wash thier skin too much, ironically, over washing can have a much more negative affect on skin appearance than not washing enough. It is only necessary to wash the skin 2 or 3 times a day, any more than this and you will be doing your skin more harm than good.
Use products that contain the terms, non-comedogenic, non-irritating, or nonacnegenic on the labels, these will help cleanse your skin.
Don’t scrub. Scrubbing can irritate your skin, so what should you use to wash your skin? Your hands, make sure they are very clean.
Use water and a foaming cleanser to clean your skin, exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells.
Don’t rub. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean, soft cloth. Don’t irritate your skin by rubbing it dry.
Only wash your skin 2 or 3 times a day, anymore than that and you remove the oil (sebum) that lubricates your skin.
Morning and evening washing are best, especially make sure you wash before you got to bed.
